USTC Robot Teams Won 1st & 2nd Awards in First National College Robot Tournament

USTC Robot Teams Won 1st & 2nd Awards in First National College Robot Tournament


On June 15th and 16th, the First National College Robot Tournament was held at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. This match was sponsored by the Chinese Central Television (CCTV) station and co-organized by the High-tech Development & Industrialization Bureau of the Ministry of Science and Technology, National 863 Project (Robot Program) and the Robot Champaign Committee of the Chinese Automation Society.

Altogether 32 teams from 28 national universities took part in this tournament including the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, National University of Defense and Technology and Dalian University of Technology. Rules and regulations of the Worldcup Football Match were applied in this tournament. The two teams from USTC arranged into two groups won 11 matches out of 12 and successfully entered into the semifinal.

On the night of 16th, the two teams from USTC contested for the 1st and 2nd Awards of the Tournament. After that, national leaders, the Minister of Education, and leaders from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) conferred the awards to the two teams. The two teams received high evaluation and praise from other brother teams, the Organizing Committee of the Tournament and CCTV for their outstanding technical design and the high spirit of competition.

As the Champion of this tournament, a team from USTC will go to Tokyo, Japan to attend the First Asia-Pacific College Robot Match on behalf of China. Altogether twenty countries will take part in that match. For more information, please visit the website of CCTV at:
