Prof. Peng Xuming, vice president of Taiwan University paid a visit to USTC from April 8th to 10th at the invitation of Prof. Liu Qingliang from the department of Applied Chemistry. Prof. Peng first visited the Structure Research laboratory, led by Prof. Hou Jianguo, Vice-President of USTC, and then discussed with the scientists in the lab about the possibility of the cooperation of observing the size of molecule on the STM. After the meeting, at the invitation of Prof. Qian Yitai, academician of CAS, Prof. Peng met with the leaders of the School of Chemistry and Material Science and introduced the innovations of the fundamental research in chemistry in Taiwan University, which facilitated the teaching much and received positive feedback from the students. Prof. Peng then delivered a speech entitled From metallic string complex compound to tread of metallic molecule and received a warm welcome. President Zhu Qingshi held an evening banquet to welcome the special guest from Taiwan and gave an introduction on the scientific achievements and the plan of development in USTC. The two sides exchanged ideas on the cooperation of teaching and scientific research and hoped that academic and personnel exchanges would be further promoted. | |
