USTC Attends the Sixth Plenary Session on the International Cooperation Net of Applied Sciences


The Six Plenary Session of the International Cooperation Net of Applied Sciences was launched in Shanghai Jiao Tong University from Oct. 31st to Nov. 3rd, 2001. Representatives from 19 universities in mainland China and Australia, the Shanghai Municipality and related departments and more than ten enterprises in mainland China and Hong Kong attended the meeting. USTC vice-president Fan Weicheng and persons in charge of the Division of Science and Technology of USTC were present at the meeting.
In 1995, the net was co-sponsored by 15 famed universities in mainland China and Hong Kong in 1995 with the purpose of promoting scientific cooperation between the member units and industrial and commercial circles. The meeting has passed the report on the arrangements for renewing the net, the report on the revised regulations of the net and the report on the election of the second executive council members. USTC has been elected member of the second executive council of the net and requested to host the first meeting of the second executive council.
At the meeting, all the representatives held discussions on such issues as how to accelerate the combination of production, education and research, how to transform the scientific fruits achieved in institutes of higher learning by capitalizing on international funds and how to set up innovative scientific risk investment funds.
