The Galaxy and Cosmography Joint Laboratory Established in USTC

USTC and CAS Shanghai Astronomical Observatory sign an agreement on establishing Galaxy and Cosmography Joint Laboratory on 13th, October. The signature ceremony is chaired by USTC School of Sciences executive president, Ye Xiangdong.
 

Hu Jinhao, the Party Secretary of Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, states the observatory always attaches importance to cooperation with USTC. The establishment of Galaxy and Cosmography Joint Laboratory forebodes the bilateral cooperation develops to depth and width. He says, USTC, as a famous university home and abroad, breeds many talents for China. There are 2 USTC graduates among the 3 "Talent Project" scholars who the observatory introduces into. Hu Jinhao hopes this joint laboratory will better develop in the future according to the fixed objects and tasks, in order to lead a pioneering position in galaxy and cosmography, aiming at making it an international competitive and powerful research group.
 

Xu Wu appreciates the key roles both sides play in taking national significant scientific research projects and bringing up graduate students. Xu Wu says that USTC will meet the demands of Shanghai Astronomical Observatory in the further cooperation, as to raise the observatory to be a flagship in galaxy and cosmography research.
