At the invitation of the Astronomy and Applied Physics Department of USTC, Professor David Sherrington visited USTC from Sept. 27th to 28th. Prof. David Sherrington, now dean of the Theoretical Physics Department of Oxford University and member of British Royal Academy, enjoys a world-wide reputation in the field of theoretical physics. His symposium on "Magnetic, Micro-chips, Memories and Market ---- Statistical Physics of Complicated Systems" on the night of Sept. 27th was welcomed by all the listeners. The symposium was chaired by USTC president assistant Li Ding.
On Sept.28th, Prof. David Sherrington had a seminar with the teaching staff and postgraduate students from condensed matter theories group on subjects of common interest. | |
