USTC president Zhu Qingshi attended the 7th annual meeting of AEARU held in Hong Kong on October 3rd, 2001. One of the most important items on the agenda of the meeting was to reelect the chairman and vice-chairman of AEARU. As a result, USTC president Zhu Qingshi was unanimously elected vice-chairman of the association.
Academic exchange plans in the fields of computer science, biology, web technology, micro-electronics and nano science were discussed at the meeting. It was decided that USTC would host the 2003 student summer camp and USTC president Zhu Qingshi would be in charge of the coordination work for the 2003 AEARU annual meeting.
