At the 2005 Scholar Annual Meeting Opening Ceremony supported by China Association of Scientists, August 20, 2005 Hong Kong "Seeking Facts" Scientists Foundation Prize is unveiled solemnly. There are 20 scientists obtaining the prize. USTC Prof. Pan Jianwei is awarded "Seeking Facts" Outstanding Scientists Prize and given bonus up to one million. Zhu Cuihuan, Wang Chuanfu and other 17 scientists are awarded China Association of Scientists "Seeking Facts" Outstanding Youth Prize and money up to fifty thousand respectively.
Prof. Pan Jianwei aged 35 is the director of Quantum Physics and Information Science Research Institution under USTC Hefei National Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale. He has got a series of initiative achievements on Quantum Information Theory and Quantum Theory which are standing in the front-line of worldwide academic domains. His research results ranks in 2003 and 2004 China Top Ten Scientific Progresses assessed by CAS and CAE (Chinese Academy of Engineering). Meanwhile, these achievements are titled "Yearly World Key Steps on Physics", which are jointly rated by Europe Physics and US Physics Learned Society.
"Seeking Facts" Outstanding Scientists Prize is founded by Hong Kong "Seeking Facts" Scientific Foundation, which run by the 20 million dollars donation from Mr. Zha Jimin and his family. Such a prize is awarded one time annually since 1994, with the aim at encouraging and rewarding Chinese science and technology talented. From then on, there have been hundreds of excellent scientists and youth talents getting awards.
Mr. Zha Jimin aged over 90 attends the ceremony and announces the setting-ups of Zha Jimin Undergraduates Scholarship and Lin Biru Undergraduates Scholarship that are awarded the university students with both good grades and good spirits. |
