| USTC Overseas Alumni Fund Awards Ceremony Held at USTC |
On the evening of October 16th, 2001, the USTC Overseas Alumni Fund Awards Ceremony was held at USTC. The awardees covered the range of newly-enrolled undergraduates, students from poor families and outstanding young staff.
Awards for USTC Outstanding Young Staff was launched for the first time with the purpose of recognizing the achievements in USTC-based research work. USTC vice-president Cheng Yi attended the awards ceremony and made a congratulatory speech to the awardees. Also present at the ceremony were representatives from the USTC Overseas Alumni Fund and persons in charge of related departments.
In his speech, vice-president Cheng Yi congratulated the awards recipients, extended his thanks to the USTC alumni for their contributions to their Alma Mater and acknowledged the achievements made by the awardees.
Mr. Tao Jianhui (chairman of the USTC Overseas Alumni Fund), Mr. Jiang Hua (a USTC alumnus from the USA) and representatives of the awardees made their speeches at the ceremony.
