The CAS Key Laboratory of Mechanical Behavior and Design of Materials was established in 1997. There are 28 staff members, including 10 professors and 5 associate professors in the lab. Professor Yu Jilin is head of the laboratory and Professor Wu Xiaoping, academician of the CAS, is chairman of the academic committee.
Research conducted in this laboratory focuses on theoretical and experimental studies of the relationship between the mechanical behaviors and the microscopic structures of materials, which, in particular, involves: the testing technology of materials, the macro- microscopically combined mechanical behavior of materials, mechanics in material processing, and methodology of material designs. The goal is to develop a systematic way to improve the performance of advanced materials. | |
