Research Result on Polar Region Getting Attention from Foreign Fellows

The fur of seal, which has been left in Antarctica for thousands of years, truly records the progress and depression in history of humans' abstracting gold and silver from the mines. The research task team, led by Prof. Sun Liguang from polar environment research lab, researched on Hg content in seals' fur in order to discover the records of humans' activities on Antarctica since 2000 years before. The paper on their research, which will be issued on world authoritative periodical Science of the Total Environment has obtained much attention from the foreign fellows. Dr. Polsenberg has interviewed Prof. Sun LiGuang on their work, and the news concerned was published on Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment.
Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment is sponsored by Ecological Society of America (ESA). The periodical publishes the real-time and high-quality ecological articles covering international issues, cross-disciplines problems, new solving methods and practically apply of ecological science.
 
This achievement got by polar environment research lab is the example of natural science and literary history's blending. It opens a window to archaeology demonstrating ancient culture, namely a new method to find the lost culture. This achievement has the scientific significance in researching relations between culture development and environment.
