The task team of USTC Life School led by Prof. Tian Zhigang obtains a great achievement of natural immunity.
The natural immunity is the first barrier in the body to defense bacteria, virus and knobs. The defects or lapse of natural immunity will result in variable and serious diseases. LPS (lipopolysaccharide) is the one of elements inducing the disease, for example, interfering in the key natural immunity cells (kupffers cells) in liver can trigger the eruptive hepatitis. The team discovers that injecting LPS pretreated by artificial-synthesized double chained RNA (poly I:C) to the human body can significantly reduce the potentials of hepatic failure. The further research demonstrates that poly I:C effecting on TLR3 (Toll Receptor) in one kupffers cell can lessen the expression of TLR4 in the same cell, hence make LPS lose the action spot, the TLR4.
The research findings will be published on the world famous academic journal PNAS. The editors state that it is the first time to express the cross talks between the TLR3 and TLR 4, and will attract the liver doctors and immunologists. |
