USTC and CAS hold Over-all Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony at Urumchi on August 14, 2005. The ceremony is chaired by director Zhou Junlin of Xinjiang Branch. Assistant secretary of USTC Party committee and vice president Xu Wu and director Zhou Junlin represent each side to sign over-all cooperation agreement. The head Zhang Shaohua of Education and Training Office under CAS Personnel Education Bureau, the leaders concerned of Xinjiang Branch and charges form relative offices and institutions attend the ceremony. Besides, USTC secretary-general Wang Keqiang, president assistant Dou Xiankang and charges from USTC School of Graduates, School of Sciences, Chemistry and Material Sciences School and Earth and Space School are present.
At the ceremony, Xu Wu briefly introduces the general situations, currently construction achievements and other statements of USTC. Then, director Zhou provides the information about conditions of Xinjiang Branch and the history of cooperation with USTC on people training and subjects building. Charges from Urumchi National Astronomical Observatory, Xinjiang Ecology and Physics Institution and Xinjiang Institution of Physics and Chemistry introduce individual panorama
By deeply and fully discussion, both sides agree on developing over-all collaborations on subjects-building, person-training, scientific research, stuff-breeding and so on. USTC will positively carry out the cooperation with Xinjiang Branch on key science and technology projects and focus forces on Ecology and Environment, Biologic technology, Materials Science and new energy and Information Science. Moreover，two sides will foster superior youth under CAS “West Light” Joint Scholars Plan. |
