USTC Schoolfellow Deng Zhonghan Winning Laurel “2005 China Top Ten Scientific and Technological News Persons”

Currently, "2005 China Top Ten Scientific and Technological News Persons" are announced to the public. USTC schoolfellow Deng Zhonghan, the board chairman of VIMICRO, is awarded this honorary title for his prominent achievements in science and technology, with other 11 persons.

Deng Zhonghan began his study in USTC in Earth and Space Sciences Department from 1987. In 1992, he went abroad to US Berkeley University to study physics. Five years later, Deng Zhonghan got three degrees, respectively being Physics Master's Degree, Electronic Engineering Doctor's Degree and Economics Master's Degree. He was the first college student who obtains three courses' degrees bestriding science, engineering and business in the history of Berkeley University. In October, 1999, Deng Zhonghan leading a group of college students who have learned abroad, came to China and established VIMICRO in Beijing Zhong Guan City. After several years, company has successfully developed first CMOS chip possessing self intellectual property so that he finished the history that China does not have the CMOS. The product of VIMICRO is awarded the first prize of National Scientific and Technological Advancement. Moreover, VIMICRO lands NASDAQ, and becomes the first China CMOS-design company listed in NASDAQ.

It is reported that "2005 China Top Ten Scientific and Technological News Persons" has been conducted three times and now it arises widely attention from scientific and technological field as well as the whole society.
