International Students' Exchange Programs

International Students' Exchange Programs
 Various programs for international students are offered at USTC, which include non-degree programs, the BS, MS, MA and Ph.D degree programs and the program for postdoctoral fellows.
 
I. Programs for International Exchange Students under Agreements with USTC
 
   Students sent by universities under agreements are welcome to USTC for their exchange programs. Affairs concerning the application, finance, accommodation and study etc. at USTC will be arranged in line with the terms specified in the relevant agreements.
   
II. Programs for International Students at Their Own Expenses
 
1. The Non-degree Program
 
Chinese Language and Culture Program
 
 Students willing to get involved in the program are supposed to take the following courses, which may run from one week to three years in length. Students can come to study at any time and they will be divided into different classes according to their demands and level of Chinese. Classes will be carried out in the form of classroom teaching, seminars, presentations, outdoor-extended classes and lectures from Monday through Friday. A certificate of study from the university will be provided to each participant at the end of the program.
 
Chinese Language Courses
Speaking Chinese, Basic Chinese (I, II, III), Chinese Listening, Modern Chinese, Introduction to Chinese Literature and Arts, An Audiovisual Chinese Course, Chinese Reading, Chinese Writing, Intermediate Level Chinese Course, Advanced Level Chinese Course, etc.
 

Chinese Culture Courses

Chinese History, An Introduction to Chinese Literature, Chinese Arts, Chinese Painting, Chinese Cuisine, Traditional Musical Instruments and Music, Concise History of Ancient Chinese National Science, Modern China, Sunzi Military Tactics, Huangmei Opera, etc.
 

Cultural Activities and Field Trips

       Free trips: Cultural lectures will be given to international students. Relevant cultural activities and local excursions will be organized to downtown Hefei, suburban places of historical interest, scenic spots, enterprises, schools, farms, etc.

Arranged tours: Two or more group tours will be organized each year to such places of historical and cultural importance as Xi'an, Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Guilin to help students further understand China and the Chinese culture. The expenses are supposed to be covered by the students themselves.
 
Non-degree Scientific Study Program
 
All participants in the program are entitled to decide their field, level and length of study at USTC according to their actual needs. A certificate from the University will be provided to each student for his/her participation at the end of the program.
