The Association of American Universities (AAU) and Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) hold the AAU-APRU Presidents Roundtable in Singapore,from June 30 to July 1, 2005. The APRU 9th Annual Presidents Meeting takes place on July 2, 2005. More than 50 presidents from the whole world's universities get together for discussing on global developments in university research and higher education.  Presidents share their universities' experiences in internationalization efforts, research capacity and resource building at the Roundtable plenary sessions.  They also discuss critical geo-strategic issues in relation to globalization and its challenges to higher education. President Zhu, Qingshi of USTC with presidents from Tshing University, Peking University, Fudan University and Zhejiang University attends the meeting.

President of the republic of Singapore, Nathan and his wife held a state banquet for all the participating leaders of the universities on June 30. Premier of Singapore, Lee, Xianlong attended the evening conference banquet and delivered a special address to the audience.
